February 2023 – Growth and Harvests
After a few weeks away, I came back to find the herb garden had turned into a jungle! With 200mm of rain since Christmas, the grass was taller than the herb beds. The fig tree was ready to harvest a month earlier than last year — and for the first time ever, we had actual bananas growing!
The goats, Timtam and George, managed a few escapes while I was away — straight to the roses! The mint had taken over and suffocated the sage, so I pulled a lot out and dehydrated it. The Rosella bushes are flowering beautifully, and the turmeric and ginger are thriving too.
The Elderberries are nearly ready for harvesting, so there’ll be plenty of elderberry syrup and fig jam soon!
